Let Tree Frog protect what matters to you most!
Most people have heard of Medicare, however, many don’t quite understand what it is, how it’s used, and who it’s for. Medicare is not a one-size fits all program and many people aren’t sure if it’s the best option for themselves and their family members. Everyone’s situation is different and each person has unique medical and prescription drug needs. From addressing your initial concerns and questions all the way through open enrollment and renewal, Tree Frog Insurance will guide you through the variety of Medicare options and offer direction that will put your mind at ease.
There are several types of Medicare plans, which include Part A, Part B, Medicare Advantage, and Part D. Each option aids in different ways and holds a unique function of service that we will explore below.
Part A is your inpatient hospital coverage under Original Medicare. It helps pay for hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice services, and some home health care after a qualifying medical event. This coverage mainly focuses on treatment received while formally admitted to a facility and supports recovery after serious illness or surgery.
Part B is your standard medical coverage for care outside the hospital. It helps pay for doctor visits, preventive services, lab tests, durable medical equipment, and medically necessary outpatient treatments. You typically pay a yearly deductible and a percentage of the approved cost for services, helping manage routine healthcare and ongoing medical needs.
Medicare Advantage plans combine Part A and Part B into one plan offered by private insurers approved by Medicare. These plans often include additional benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing services while following Medicare coverage guidelines. Costs and provider networks may vary, but they provide an all-in-one option for managing medical care and coverage.
Part D provides coverage specifically for prescription medications. Plans are offered by private insurers and can be purchased separately or included within a Medicare Advantage plan. Each plan has its own list of covered drugs and monthly premium, but all meet Medicare standards and help reduce the cost of both generic and brand-name medications.
Original Medicare pays for much of the cost of covered healthcare services and supplies, but not all. A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy can help pay some of the remaining health care costs, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Some Medigap policies also cover services that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like emergency medical care when you travel outside the U.S.
